What is Phone Unlocking

We unlock nearly all models and make of mobile phones so they accept other network sim cards. Prices vary from £10. Many models are unlocked on premises whilst you wait and some may need to be left with us.

What is Phone Unlocking?

Phone unlocking (also known as chipping or making sim free) allows a phone that is locked into one network to work with other network sim cards.

Is it legal?

Yes unlocking is completely legal.

Do the websites offering free software or very cheap mobile phone unlocking codes work?

Our experience shows that almost all of the time these do not work and could damage your phone.

Can unlocking affect any other functions of the handset?

Not usually, but there are sometimes slight alterations with some models.

Will any sim card work in my phone after it's been unlocked?

Once a phone is unlocked, it will be compatible with all networks apart from the one called 'Three', which will not work in all models, even after unlocking.

How do I know if my mobile phone needs unlocking?

If your phone works on the original network but NOT if you put a different network sim card in. Display instructions vary amongst models but many will ask for a restriction code, a subsidy password or say 'Insert Correct Sim' , 'sim not provisioned' or 'Wrong Card'. Some codes can refer to security settings, not network locks. Please ask us if you're not sure.

Why unlock my phone?

If you want to keep your sim card (same network, same tariff, same phone number) but your new phone is locked to a different network, you can get it unlocked so it accepts your sim card.

My phone has been barred. Will it work after it's been unlocked?

No. Unlocking will enable a phone to accept other sim cards, but network providers will bar a handset from making calls if it has been reported lost or stolen. Only network providers have control over this bar.
